Born in a Smokehouse at 7,380 Feet

Fox & Hound didn't start as a sauce company. It started as a restaurant.

Since 1991, Fox & Hound Smokehouse Grill & Bar has been slow-smoking ribs, tri-tip, and pulled pork at 7,380 feet above sea level on the Nevada-California stateline — perched above the Carson Valley near The Ridge Tahoe and the Nevada side of Heavenly. We're family-owned, veteran-owned, and we've been feeding locals and travelers through more Tahoe winters than most restaurants ever see.

Every sauce we bottle is a sauce we serve. Not the other way around.

Real Smokehouse, Real Recipes

Long before anyone thought about a label, these sauces were getting tested the hardest way possible: on a daily menu, in front of guests who know good barbecue when they taste it. High Altitude Heat went on tri-tip night after night before it ever saw a bottle. Mountain-Style Vinegar was built to cut through rich, slow-smoked pulled pork. Lake Level Mild earned its name on a rack of ribs, not in a test kitchen.

That's the difference between a sauce made for a shelf and a sauce made for a smoker. Ours started in the smoker.

We've put our sauces up against hundreds of others at the country's biggest barbecue competitions — and they've held their own:

At altitude, there's nowhere to hide a bad ingredient — the flavor has to do all the work. So every Fox & Hound sauce is made without:

  • High-fructose corn syrup
  • MSG
  • Artificial preservatives
  • Gluten

Just real ingredients, slow-cooked the way we'd make them for our own kitchen — because we do.
